The Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA), in collaboration with Overstrand Municipality’s Local Economic Development (LED), will be hosting a number of information sessions where local spaza-shop owners, general dealers and grocers can learn more about the support that is accessible via this agency.

As an implementing agency of the Department of Small Business Development, SEFA provides financial products and services to small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs).

Given the crucial role spaza shops, general dealers and grocery stores fulfil in the South African landscape, SEFA now offers a Spaza-shop Support Programme for qualifying owners.

To qualify, owners must be South African citizens, operate their shops in a township or rural area and hold a valid trading permit, including a temporary one or business licence (in the case of general dealers).

In preparation for the information sessions, interested owners are encouraged to collect an application form for financial assistance from the LED offices in Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus or Kleinmond. They are also welcome to direct enquiries in this regard to the LED offices in Hermanus on 028 313 5020/5010.

The information sessions will be held at the indicated venues on the following days:

Gansbaai: 22 February 2024 at 10:00 at the Tourism Centre

Stanford: 23 February 2024at 10:00 at the Community Hall

Hermanus: 27 February 2024 at 09:00 at the Multipurpose Centre in the New Harbour

Kleinmond: 28 February 2024 at 10:00 at Proteadorp Community Hall
